Basketball Australia has opened nominations for the 2025 Ford Aussie Hoops Coach of the Year and Centre of the Year awards — celebrating the standout people and places driving grassroots basketball across the country.
With more than 44,000 young participants taking part in the program each year, the Ford Aussie Hoops community thrives thanks to the energy, passion, and dedication of local coaches and centres.
Coach of the Year honours the individuals who inspire confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of the game.
The winning coach will receive a $500 prize pack and a professional development opportunity with a Basketball Australia coach mentor in their home state.
Centre of the Year recognises the venues and organisations that deliver exceptional programs, build community connections, and create inclusive, fun environments for all participants.
The winning centre will receive $5,000, national recognition as the Ford Aussie Hoops Centre of the Year, and media coverage celebrating their success.
“The Ford Aussie Hoops program is built on the passion of our local coaches and centres,” said James Savoulidis, Participation Programs Coordinator at Basketball Australia. “These awards are about celebrating the people who make basketball accessible, fun, and inspiring for the next generation of players.”
Basketball Australia encourages communities nationwide to nominate coaches and centres who have gone above and beyond in fostering participation, development, and a love for basketball.
Nominations close soon, submissions can be made via the Ford Aussie Hoops Awards page.
