VIC Country and Metro claim gold in the Women's and Men's draws respectively as the Foot Locker U16 National Championships wraps up at Red Energy Arena.

Gold medal Sunday delivered drama across the board at Red Energy Arena, with champions decided in both the U16 Women's and Men's draws to bring the curtain down on this year's Foot Locker U16 National Championships.

U16 WOMEN — NORMA CONNOLLY TROPHY

Victoria Country claimed the Norma Connolly Trophy with a hard-fought 60-52 win over Victoria Metro in an all-Victorian decider. Victoria Country led from the opening term and held on despite a strong response from Victoria Metro's I. Tamburrini, who finished with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Victoria Country's balanced attack proved the difference, with M. Beasley (15 points), M. Childs (14 points) and M. Cox (13 points) all contributing significantly, while J. Hill added 9 points, 9 rebounds and a team-high 3 assists in a complete performance at both ends.

In the Bronze Medal game, South Australia Metro edged out Queensland South 66-64 in a thriller. C. George was outstanding for South Australia Metro with 22 points, while Queensland South's C. Massingale matched her with a game-high 24 points in a losing effort.

U16 MEN — ROBERT YOUNG SHIELD

Victoria Metro capped off an unbeaten campaign in dominant fashion, defeating Queensland South 94-85 to claim the Robert Young Shield. M. Adio was sensational in the decider, finishing with 30 points, while M. Akingbade added 19 points as Victoria Metro's depth proved decisive. Queensland South's T. Miles fought hard with 24 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome Victoria Metro's efficient shooting, with the eventual champions converting an impressive 62% from two-point range.

In the Bronze Medal game, Western Australia Metro were dominant from the opening whistle, running out 86-48 winners over South Australia Metro. J. Manfield (13 points) and P.
