The Ford Aussie Hoops program continues to go from strength to strength in term 2, with record numbers of children introduced to basketball in a fun, family-friendly environment.
The program saw 5,326 new participants and 5.3% growth compared to the same time period last year. The Ford Aussie Hoops program has now expanded to 645 programs across the country with 10,507 total participants in term 2 alone.
Nearly 30% of young basketballers who partake in Ford Aussie Hoops are female, demonstrating the growth and opportunity for young girls to pick up the sport.
A key pillar of Ford Aussie Hoops remains coaches; over the term, 183 Ford Aussie Hoops Coaches Courses were completed, ensuring children can be introduced to the game of basketball through trained and enthusiastic mentors.
Without access to volunteers, coaches and facilities, the Ford Aussie Hoops program would not be able to spread the critical task of grassroots basketball, and so Basketball Australia extends its gratitude and appreciation to those parties.
Basketball Australia acknowledges and thanks Ford Australia for its ongoing commitment to supporting grassroots basketball as a name partner of Aussie Hoops. Ford Australia plays a vital role in helping spread the program nationally, introducing more young participants to basketball.
